OUR STORY

Dedication and Service

Orange County Korean War Memorial Committee is a non-profit 501 and it was founded in 2011 by the late Jin Oh Kim, Founding President, a successful businessman and a philanthropist with the mission of designing, constructing, and maintaining a monument to honor the 36,591 brave U.S. men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend and protect the freedom and democracy of the Republic of Korea during the Korean War between 1950 -1953.

Unfortunately, Jin Oh Kim passed away in 2016. His vision and spirit were succeeded by James S. Ro, President of the OC Korean War Memorial Committee. Since the groundbreaking ceremony on August 14th, 2020, this worthy project received tremendous attention by many generous donors from the Korean American community and we have dedicated the monument on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2021.
